Eagle Editorial Board Backs Five Massachusetts Ballot Questions
The Berkshire Eagle endorses a yes vote on Massachusetts Question 1, which would bring the Legislature and governor’s office under the state public records law. It also backs Question 2, allowing Committee for Public Counsel Services employees to collectively bargain if they choose, and Question 4, permitting voter registration on Election Day. The editorial board supports Question 6, which would dedicate certain sales tax revenue to a conservation fund without adding taxes or fees. On Question 9, it opposes the effort to repeal the 2024 firearm law, arguing that its measures—including ghost-gun regulation and stronger extreme-risk protection orders—serve public safety, even if some provisions are burdensome to gun owners.
