Eau Claire Papers Merge Into Leader-Telegram
The Eau Claire Leader, founded in 1881, and the Eau Claire Daily Telegram, founded in 1894, became two of the city’s surviving newspapers amid intense competition. They merged in 1912 to form the Eau Claire Press Company, and in 1970 their publications combined as the afternoon Leader-Telegram. The Atkinson and Graaskamp families owned the paper for about 130 years before Adams Publishing Group purchased it in 2018.
