eBay Plans 9% Workforce Cut to Streamline Operations
eBay plans to cut about 9% of its workforce as it simplifies operations and shifts resources toward its highest-priority, faster-growing businesses, CEO Jamie Iannone told employees. The company said affected workers will be notified in the coming days, but has not disclosed the total number of jobs or which teams will be most affected. The layoffs follow cuts of about 800 positions, or 6% of staff, in February. eBay has been emphasizing higher-value categories such as authenticated luxury goods, collectibles and refurbished products, and recently expanded its resale business through its acquisition of Depop.
