Edwards’ Planned Knee Surgery May Raise Long-Term Risks
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is expected to miss up to two months after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, following renewed concerns after he played Monday’s game against Cleveland. The procedure comes after a strong start to the season and prior reports of soreness and inflammation in the same knee, creating a significant setback for Minnesota. Sports physician Brian Sutterer said the timeline is consistent with some knee “cleanup” procedures, which may address damage involving the meniscus or cartilage, but Edwards’ exact diagnosis and the planned procedure have not been disclosed. Sutterer cautioned that trimming damaged tissue can ease symptoms in the short term while potentially reducing tissue that protects and stabilizes the joint, raising the possibility of recurring problems or further surgery.
