Eight Arrested After 30-Shot Columbia Shooting

Columbia police say at least seven people fired nearly 30 shots during a gang-related dispute in downtown Columbia early on Halloween, leaving a woman seriously injured. Investigators used public and private camera footage, executed eight residential search warrants and recovered 11 firearms, including an AR-15-style pistol. Police announced eight arrests—seven men and a 16-year-old—and said they are still seeking another suspect; several cases have been referred to federal prosecutors. The police chief said the department is concerned about possible retaliation and the risk to bystanders.
