El Paso deputy arrested over alleged 380-record scheme
Jessica Marie Alonzo, a deputy at an authorized contract office serving the El Paso County Tax Assessor-Collector, was arrested and faces 10 counts of tampering with government records. Authorities allege she altered more than 380 vehicle-registration and title transactions from July 2025 to July 2026 to register vehicles that had not met Texas inspection and emissions requirements, and collected thousands of dollars in payments; she was booked on a $50,000 bond. Investigators said they could not determine whether every payment reviewed was tied to the alleged scheme.
