Election Officials Report Scattered Disruptions, Irregularities
Election Day brought several reported incidents across the country, including a Camillus, New York, voter charged with aggravated harassment after spitting on a poll worker following a dispute over identity verification. In Boone, North Carolina, a voter who objected to waiting in line disrupted voting at an Appalachian State polling site, prompting a 15-minute pause before police escorted the person out; officials said they found no reason to extend voting. Connecticut officials referred a reported attempt to vote twice in Madison to the state election enforcement commission, warning that double voting is illegal. In Alaska’s Mat-Su region, a poll worker reported that signs directing voters to a polling place had been turned around twice, an incident reported to Republican Party leaders.
