Emmys Draw 6.7 Million Viewers Despite Monday Airdate and NFL Competition
The 2026 Emmy Awards drew about 6.7 million viewers across NBC, Peacock and other digital platforms in preliminary Nielsen figures, down from last year’s final 7.59 million. Depending on whether the comparison uses last year’s preliminary or final total, the decline is roughly 10% to 12%, and the figures may change when final ratings are released. The ceremony aired on a Monday to avoid NBC’s Sunday Night Football, but it still faced NFL competition. Despite the decline from 2025, the broadcast improved on NBC’s 2022 Emmys, which averaged 5.92 million viewers, while NBC’s linear audience was estimated at about 6.2 million. Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay led the awards with six wins and helped Apple TV finish first overall with 28 awards; the Television Academy is also considering moving future ceremonies to Prime Video.
