At Least Three Die at Burning Man Amid Disruptions

Authorities reported at least three deaths connected to the 2026 Burning Man festival in Nevada. Sampson Tshombe, in his mid-50s, died after a medical emergency on Sept. 3 despite lifesaving efforts at the festival’s medical center, while 60-year-old Craigh Mann was found dead in his camp on Sept. 5. Pershing County officials said neither death showed apparent signs of foul play, and autopsies and toxicology tests are pending, with results expected in six to eight weeks. A third person also died while being transported to a Reno hospital, but authorities released no further details. The deaths occurred amid heavy rain, mud-related disruptions and other incidents, while organizers provided around-the-clock peer and crisis support to attendees.
