Hurricane Marie Cancels Santa Monica Ocean Way Festival
Santa Monica canceled the inaugural Ocean Way Festival, scheduled for Sept. 26-27, after Hurricane Marie’s storm surf and runoff caused significant beach erosion and made the beachfront site unsafe. The Goldenvoice event was to feature The Killers, Olivia Dean, Jack White, Khruangbin, Sublime and other artists as part of a broader celebration of music, food, wellness, design and beach culture. Organizers said the festival will not be rescheduled this year but that plans are underway to return in 2027. Ticket refunds are being processed automatically through AXS and are expected within roughly five to seven business days. The cancellation follows other disruptions to Southern California beach events and affects Santa Monica’s plans to establish Ocean Way as a major cultural anchor for its planned beachfront events district.
