Caleb Flynn Faces Trial in Wife’s Killing
Former “American Idol” contestant and music pastor Caleb Flynn, 40, is set to stand trial in Ohio for allegedly killing his wife, Ashley Flynn, 37, and staging the scene to resemble a home invasion. Flynn has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and witness intimidation, maintaining that an intruder shot Ashley while he was with their two daughters. Jury selection begins Sept. 17, with the trial expected to last about two weeks and include testimony from relatives, potentially including the daughters, as well as a visit to the family’s home. Prosecutors allege Flynn staged the scene, while the defense says authorities rushed to judgment and cannot prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt; his 911 call and police body-camera footage document his response after the shooting.
