Michael J. Fox Accepts Humanitarian Award to Emmys Standing Ovation

Michael J. Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards on September 14, 2026, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Fox, 65, accepted the honorary Emmy presented by Julianna Margulies to a standing ovation. He was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson's in 1991 at age 29 and publicly revealed the diagnosis in 1998. He attended with wife Tracy Pollan, their first joint Emmys appearance in 13 years. Fox said he initially kept his diagnosis secret out of fear it would affect his work and audience relationships, but was stunned by support that showed he had not lost what he does. He thanked Bob Hope's example, his foundation's staff, donors, researchers and patient community, and said they move closer to eradicating the disease. He thanked Pollan and their four children for their sacrifices and love. Fox has five career Emmys and a 2022 Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award; he was also nominated for guest actor in Shrinking.
