Spider-Man: Brand New Day Sets Domestic Box-Office Record

Spider-Man: Brand New Day passed Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Tuesday as the highest-grossing domestic film ever at approximately $936.77 million after 47 days. The Force Awakens held about $936.66 million for over a decade since 2015. The film added $915,000 on day 47 per Deadline. It set the biggest opening weekend at roughly $360 million from July 31, the fastest path to $400 million in four days and each mark through $900 million, plus six straight No. 1 weekends. Only two films have crossed $900 million domestically. Worldwide it has about $2.45 billion, third behind Avatar at roughly $2.9 billion and Avengers: Endgame at about $2.7 billion. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton with stars Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, it features Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas, Florence Pugh, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Marisa Tomei. Tom Rothman said yes to another Tom Holland Spider-Man movie. Holland and Zendaya expressed willingness to return.
