RTÉ Withdraws from 2027 Eurovision Over Gaza Crisis and Access Concerns

Ireland will not participate in or broadcast the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest in Bulgaria, RTÉ confirmed. The broadcaster cited the ongoing loss of life and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, along with concerns about the denial of independent access to international journalists. RTÉ also withdrew from the 2026 contest in Vienna after the European Broadcasting Union allowed Israel’s broadcaster, Kan, to participate, alongside several other countries. Eurovision organizers said they respected RTÉ’s decision and hoped Ireland would return in the future.
