Patrick Clancy Reveals Suicidal Thoughts After Children’s Deaths

Patrick Clancy described profound grief and trauma in his first televised interview since his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial ended in a mistrial. He recalled finding their children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months old—strangled at their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023; Callan survived for four days before dying in his arms. Clancy said he experienced suicidal thoughts, a severe panic attack while testifying and periods when he felt he had no purpose, but believed he had done the best he could while helping Lindsay through worsening postpartum mental illness. Lindsay has acknowledged killing the children but argued she was not criminally responsible because postpartum psychosis, depression, sleep deprivation and medication issues impaired her judgment; prosecutors argued the killings were deliberate, the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict, and it remains unclear whether she will be retried. Clancy said Lindsay described the killings as dreamlike and that he forgave her despite her not asking. He also said online conspiracy theories targeting him and his current wife are harmful distractions from addressing perinatal mental health.
