Macklemore’s Free Palestine tour sells out after Sheeran split
Country singer Zach Bryan wore a “Free Palestine” shirt during a performance at Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore had recently been barred from appearing; Bryan did not address the controversy onstage, and band members were also reportedly wearing pro-Palestinian clothing. Macklemore said stadium owner Robert Kraft helped pressure venues to reject him, and the tour promoter confirmed that some venues would not host shows with Macklemore on the bill. Ed Sheeran said the decision to remove Macklemore from his U.S. tour was made by the promoter and later called the situation in Gaza catastrophic and unjustifiable; several supporting acts withdrew from the tour. Macklemore’s replacement European benefit tour sold out shortly after it was announced, with dates scheduled for Dublin on Oct. 26, Paris on Oct. 29 and London on Oct. 30. Proceeds are set to support organizations aiding Palestinians.
