Glee Reboot Ordered for Hulu, Disney+

Disney+ and Hulu have ordered a Glee reboot from 20th Television after the original ran six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015. Co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan have written a script, and Murphy says he spoke with about 10 original cast members who were enthusiastic but had questions. No storyline, episode count, filming schedule or cast has been announced. Disney says the show's music attracts about four million monthly Spotify listeners. Murphy teased the revival at the American Horror Story season 13 premiere a few weeks prior and revealed in September that the creators had written a script. Chris Colfer told Bustle that Glee fans would probably come after him with pitchforks and jazz hands if he said no. Jane Lynch said last month no one had reached out to her but she would be on board. TMZ reported anonymous cast members described the original show and arena tours as grueling and underpaid relative to Murphy and Fox. Cory Monteith died in 2013, Mark Salling in 2018 and Naya Rivera in 2020. Story, cast and production plans remain unannounced.
