Netherlands Reverses Plan to Return to Eurovision in 2027
The Netherlands will not compete in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest, reversing its plan to return after boycotting the 2026 contest. Public broadcaster NPO said there was insufficient support among Dutch broadcasters amid divisions over Israel’s participation and the war in Gaza; AVROTROS had already withdrawn, and reports cited staff opposition and complaints. NPO said it would not force another broadcaster to take on the Dutch entry. NOS will still televise the semi-finals and final. Ireland has also confirmed it will boycott the contest, scheduled for May 2027 in Burgas, Bulgaria.
