Houdini II Escapes Straitjacket Nine Stories Up
Escape artist Houdini II marked the 100th anniversary of Harry Houdini’s death with a straitjacket escape suspended roughly 80 feet above Hollywood’s Magic Castle. He freed himself in just under two minutes without an airbag or other protective landing system. The stunt took place ahead of the anniversary of Houdini’s death on Halloween in 1926; organizers had also said Houdini II planned to drop $1,000 as a gesture promoting unity and peace.
