Russell Brand convicted of rape, sexual assault
Russell Brand was convicted at Southwark Crown Court of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault over allegations involving six women between 1999 and 2009. The jury acquitted him of two other rape charges and attempted indecent assault; Brand denied all charges. The convictions include the rape of a fan he met after a 2009 Hammersmith Apollo show and sexual assaults involving media workers. The judge said a significant custodial sentence was inevitable, remanded Brand into custody and scheduled sentencing for Monday.
