Las Vegas Art Crawl Supports Artists After Shooting
Las Vegas Arts District businesses and organizers held an art crawl on Nov. 6 to support local artists and small businesses after the city paused First Friday for November and December following an October shooting that killed a 15-year-old; a 17-year-old has been charged in connection with the incident. More than 20 businesses hosted local artists, who received $100 stipends and opportunities to sell their work. Organizers hope to hold another crawl if First Friday has not resumed by next month. Mayor Shelley Berkley said the city hopes to bring First Friday back in January, as officials and organizers discuss safety measures that could include more police and marshals, curfews, age limits and metal detectors.
