Phoenix Symphony revives season through December after donor pledges
The Phoenix Symphony will resume performances on Nov. 12 after emergency donor pledges lifted the suspension of its 2026–27 season, which had been announced less than three weeks earlier amid a severe cash shortage. The return is currently funded only through Dec. 31; the orchestra needs further support to continue into 2027, and the 66 musicians laid off on Nov. 2 are expected back for performances. An 11-member commission of civic and business leaders, musicians and Symphony representatives will develop a plan to improve the organization’s finances and operations. The musicians are also holding a benefit concert to help colleagues affected by the layoffs.
