Television Guitarist, Other Rock Musicians Die
Richard Lloyd, Television’s co-founding guitarist, has died at 75 from cholangiocarcinoma, a bile duct cancer; his angular playing helped shape post-punk and influenced bands including Pixies and Sonic Youth, and he also released nine solo albums. Guyton Sanders, founding drummer of Dallas band the Vandoliers, has died after a long-term illness, prompting tributes from the band and musicians in the city’s music community. Rudy Graf, a guitarist and songwriter with Warlock from 1983 to 1985, died in the spring, though the news was not made public until October, former frontwoman Doro Pesch said. Drummer Bobby Taylor has also died after cancer; his wife said he fought until the end, and tributes praised his musicianship and lasting impact.
