Carbon Monoxide Incidents Prompt Evacuations in Three Cities
Carbon monoxide incidents prompted evacuations in Calgary, Seattle and Millcreek, Utah. In southeast Calgary, about 100 condo residents were evacuated after detectors alerted firefighters to a 90-parts-per-million reading; investigators traced the leak to malfunctioning rooftop equipment, and no injuries were reported. In Seattle’s Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, firefighters evacuated all three floors of an apartment building after finding a gas-powered pressure washer operating in the basement. In Millcreek, residents of an apartment building near Main Street were evacuated as a precaution while crews checked readings and ventilated the building; officials had not identified the cause.
