Fall floral shows span US gardens
Fall flowers are appearing in gardens and seasonal gatherings, from advice on using autumn blooms and natural accents to create welcoming holiday tables to public displays celebrating chrysanthemums and Día de los Muertos. New York Botanical Garden’s celebration features a community ofrenda, a marigold Catrina and other seasonal installations, alongside chrysanthemums shaped into forms and a giant pumpkin. Seattle’s Volunteer Park Conservatory is hosting the Evergreen Chrysanthemum Club’s annual exhibition, while Peoria’s Luthy Botanical Garden is staging a free, pumpkin-themed chrysanthemum show through Nov. 1. For home gardens, the fall-blooming cotton rose—a large hibiscus shrub with flowers that may change color as they age—is presented as a pass-along plant suited to sunny or partly shaded spots.
