FBI Finds Thousands of Roosters at Florida Cockfighting Site
An FBI search of a 10-acre property in Southwest Miami-Dade for an unrelated investigation led authorities to a suspected cockfighting operation with several thousand roosters, training rings and fighting equipment. Sheriff’s detectives and animal-services officials later searched the site, where two men allegedly breached the secured perimeter and fled. Authorities arrested 52-year-old Carlos Rafael Lezcano nearby and charged him with animal cruelty, possessing animals for fighting, evidence tampering and resisting an officer without violence. The allegations have not been proven in court.
