His findings linked several exposed records to businesses, including Hertz and a Las Vegas dispensary, that use New Orleans-based identity-verification company IDScan.net, though the source of the breach has not been definitively established. The FBI confirmed it is looking into the incident but declined further comment, while IDScan.net said it secured its systems, hired outside specialists and is cooperating with federal investigators. The Nexus site reportedly disappeared after Krebs’s report, and some outlets said they could not independently verify the full scope of the claims.
