Trump approves federal aid for Colorado wildfire and flood recovery, individual aid pending

President Trump approved federal Public Assistance for Colorado communities recovering from the Aspen Acres and Gold Mountain wildfires, as well as subsequent flooding and debris flows. The aid covers Custer, Dolores, Ouray and Pueblo counties and will help state and local governments, utilities and eligible nonprofits pay for debris removal and repairs to roads, water systems, power grids and other public infrastructure. The Aspen Acres Fire burned more than 100,000 acres, while the Gold Mountain Fire burned nearly 40,000 acres, with storms worsening damage in the burn scars. Colorado’s requests for direct assistance to individuals and additional hazard-mitigation funding remain under review.
