Federal Judge Overseeing Maduro Case Dies at 92

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein, who had served on the federal bench in Manhattan since 1998, died at 92, according to the Southern District of New York. Appointed by President Bill Clinton, he was overseeing the prosecution of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and had handled other high-profile matters, including litigation related to the Sept. 11 attacks and cases involving Archegos founder Bill Hwang.
