FEMA Opens Recovery Centers After West Virginia Floods and Wisconsin Tornado
Disaster recovery centers have opened in Bridgeport, West Virginia, and Menasha, Wisconsin, to help residents recover from separate weather disasters. The Bridgeport center serves Harrison County residents affected by the Aug. 14–18 flooding, offering help with FEMA applications and Small Business Administration low-interest loans; residents can also apply online, by app or phone. In Menasha, FEMA, SBA and other representatives are assisting Winnebago and Outagamie county residents affected by the July 27 tornado and severe storms with applications, documents and questions about existing claims. In-person help is available for survivors who find the application process difficult, while assistance is also accessible remotely. The deadline to apply for assistance in Wisconsin is Dec. 7, and an additional center is scheduled to open in Grand Chute on Oct. 26.
