Filings Show Harry Potter Series Spent Nearly $200M
HBO’s Harry Potter series has reportedly accumulated nearly £150 million (about $200 million) in production costs by the end of 2025, while filming its first season was still underway. UK filings for production company Plum Jam Productions show revenue of £130.6 million in 2025, up from £18.4 million in 2024; reports estimate the first season’s total launch spending could reach £150 million. That would average about $25 million per episode for an eight-episode season, exceeding the widely reported $15 million-per-episode cost of Game of Thrones’ final season. The high initial outlay is attributed in part to the construction of extensive sets at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, which are expected to be reused across the planned adaptation of all seven books and could reduce costs in later seasons.
