Indian Equity Mutual Fund Inflows Hit Four-Month High

Indian equity mutual funds attracted about ₹29,329 crore in August, nearly 19% more than in July and the highest monthly inflow in four months, led by small-cap funds at ₹7,973 crore and mid-cap funds at ₹6,989 crore. Large-cap funds recorded an outflow of ₹1,147 crore, indicating a stronger preference for smaller companies. SIP contributions reached a record ₹32,297 crore, while contributing SIP accounts crossed 10 crore for the first time and SIP assets under management rose to ₹18.62 lakh crore. Overall mutual fund assets under management increased to roughly ₹87.07 lakh crore, although industry-wide net inflows fell sharply because debt-oriented funds recorded an ₹8,127 crore outflow. Gold ETFs also saw stronger demand, with inflows rising to ₹2,597 crore.
