AMD Briefly Tops $1 Trillion Market Value

AMD shares briefly pushed the company's market capitalization above $1 trillion during trading. The stock rose about 9% to 9.6% and hit a record high around $610 to $613.92. Reuters dated the move Monday, Sept. 21, 2026; a wire summary said Sept. 22. AMD became the fourth U.S. chipmaker to reach the mark after Nvidia, Broadcom and Micron. Nvidia crossed $1 trillion in 2023 and is now worth more than $5 trillion. Other chip stocks advanced the same day, with Intel up about 11% to 12.91% and Qualcomm up about 4.1%. AMD reported second-quarter revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50% year-over-year, and data-center sales more than doubled to $6.7 billion. Shares are up 26% since early August after AMD forecast quarterly revenue above Wall Street estimates, a reading that still fell short of investor expectations and sent the stock down over 7% that day. A wire summary tied the rally to expectations for demand for AMD AI accelerators, data-center systems and CPUs used in AI inference. CONTESTED: Wire summary dates the brief $1 trillion cross Sept. 22; Reuters-sourced articles say Monday, Sept. 21. No other contested claims found.
