Fires in four cities kill pets, displace residents
Several recent home fires have affected pets, with outcomes ranging from displacement to death. In Iksan, South Korea, investigators suspect a cat accidentally switched on a kitchen appliance while its owner was away, igniting a helmet; no one was hurt, and the fire caused property damage. In separate fires in Moline, Illinois, and Cortland, Ohio, one cat died in each incident; another cat rescued in Cortland was taken to a veterinarian. A Reno fire displaced two residents along with their dog and guinea pig, while firefighters contained the blaze before it spread to nearby homes.
