Five Killed, Five Injured in Kansas House Fire
A house fire in Independence, Kansas, killed four children and their grandmother, Johanna Landsaw-Davis, early Sept. 11. Family members identified the children as Bane, Case, Ahlaya and Renesmae Landsaw-Davis. Five other people, including the children’s mother and oldest sibling, were hospitalized, and officials said some patients have received positive updates while withholding further details for privacy. Investigators are working to determine how the fire started. The community has created a memorial outside the home and organized fundraisers to help with funeral, medical and rebuilding expenses.
