Five Rock Legends Mark Birthday Milestones

Several influential rock musicians are being celebrated for birthdays and career milestones. David “Clem” Clempson, who turns 77, replaced Peter Frampton in Humble Pie in 1971 after earlier work with Bakerloo and Colosseum. Gene Parsons, who turns 82, spent four years with the Byrds, contributing as a drummer, guitarist, banjo player, harmonica player, vocalist and songwriter, and later recorded the band’s version of “Mr. Tambourine Man.” Grand Funk Railroad co-founder Don Brewer turns 78 after helping lead the band to major commercial success, including its first No. 1 hit, “We’re an American Band.” Beach Boys co-founder Al Jardine turns 84 and is remembered for singing lead on “Help Me, Rhonda,” one of the group’s three No. 1 singles.
