Five-Time Pro Bowler Lawrence McCutcheon Dies at 76
Lawrence McCutcheon, the Colorado State standout and five-time Pro Bowl running back who powered the Los Angeles Rams through a successful stretch in the 1970s, has died at 76 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Drafted by the Rams in 1972, he rushed for 6,578 yards over a 10-year NFL career, including four 1,000-yard seasons, and helped Los Angeles reach Super Bowl XIV, where he threw a 24-yard touchdown pass. He also played for Denver, Seattle and Buffalo, and later spent 32 years in the Rams’ front office as a scout and personnel executive. At Colorado State, he set rushing and receiving marks and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
