Storms and floods kill four in southern France, one missing
Severe storms and flooding in southern France killed at least four people, according to an updated toll: three in Bouches-du-Rhône and one in Haute-Corse. The victims included two women who drowned in a flooded basement, a man swept away by floodwaters and a driver whose vehicle was carried into a river; one person remained missing in Var. Hundreds of residents were evacuated or sheltered, while emergency crews carried out extensive rescues. Flooding damaged roads and rail infrastructure, disrupted transport and telecommunications, and left thousands of households without power. Authorities warned that additional strong winds could hamper recovery efforts.
