Florida Grandmother Arrested Over Ghost Theft While Babysitting
A 53-year-old Lakeland grandmother, Tonya Mannion, was arrested after surveillance footage allegedly showed her taking an inflatable Halloween ghost from a home’s porch while driving around with her three grandchildren. Authorities said she unplugged the decoration and put it in her car after a child admired it; an arrest affidavit reportedly says she told deputies she took it because her grandchildren asked for it. Deputies recovered the ghost, valued by the homeowner at about $15, and returned it. Mannion faces burglary, petit theft and criminal mischief charges, as well as three counts related to allegedly causing a child to become delinquent, dependent or needy.
