Florida No. 5 AVCA, Wisconsin No. 4 NCAA

Wisconsin volleyball was ranked No. 4 in the NCAA selection committee’s in-season top 16, which would make the Badgers a No. 1 seed and regional host if the tournament began then. The ranking is higher than Wisconsin’s No. 6 spot in the AVCA poll and reflects the committee’s emphasis on RPI, strength of schedule and head-to-head results; all five of the Badgers’ losses came against ranked teams. Wisconsin had improved to 7-1 in Big Ten play after beating Iowa and also swept Maryland, earning conference Setter and Freshman of the Week honors. The team’s ranking remains provisional, with more matches to play before the NCAA tournament.
