Florida University Unveils Police eVTOL, Awaits FAA Approval
Florida Polytechnic University says its police department is the first in the United States to add a piloted electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft to its fleet. The Jetson ONE, nicknamed Astro, is intended to help officers monitor campus, reach isolated areas, search for missing people, respond to crashes and storms, and support regional emergency operations, including delivering supplies. The department is awaiting final Federal Aviation Administration approval before using it in police operations. The university also plans to use the aircraft as a research and learning platform for students and faculty.
