Rivian expands EV lineup with R1S and R2 facing Tesla Model Y tests
Rivian is expanding its electric-vehicle lineup across SUVs and trucks, with comparisons highlighting different trade-offs against established rivals. The three-row R1S is substantially more expensive than the Chevrolet Bolt or Nissan Rogue, while offering greater seating capacity; available comparison data gives it strong marks for efficiency and cargo space, though ratings for the rival models vary or are incomplete. Rivian’s smaller R2, priced from about $45,000, is positioned against the Tesla Model Y: Edmunds’ testing found the Model Y went farther on a charge and charged slightly faster, while both vehicles use Tesla’s NACS charging standard and can access the Supercharger network. The R1T is presented as a luxury electric pickup combining strong acceleration, off-road capability and everyday usefulness, while the Cybertruck comparison notes Tesla’s move to offer a lower-priced base trim.
