Ford Sentenced for Gun Tied to Eight Deaths
Charles Ford, 56, of Shreveport was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for illegally possessing the firearm used in the April 19 mass shooting that killed eight children and injured two women. Ford, a convicted felon, initially denied possessing the gun but later told investigators he had kept it under his truck seat and believed the shooter, Shamar Elkins, took it. Ford also received three years of supervised release; his sentence for making false statements to investigators will run concurrently with the firearm sentence.
