Carlos Mendoza, fired as Mets manager after the team’s 34-47 start in 2026, will join the Phillies as their third-base and infield coach. Philadelphia announced the hire as it reshapes its coaching staff, with Don Mattingly returning as manager. Mendoza’s Mets tenure included a run to the 2024 National League Championship Series, followed by seasons that ended in disappointment. He was also considered for Seattle’s managerial opening but withdrew from consideration to take the Phillies role.
