Former Virginia Democratic official sentenced to 10 years for distributing child abuse material
Randon Alexander Sprinkle, 31, of Richmond, Virginia, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing child sexual abuse material. Prosecutors said he contacted an undercover FBI agent on a dating app, believing the agent was the father of a 9-year-old boy, shared a video depicting child sexual abuse and expressed interest in abusing the child. A search of his home uncovered 43 such files on a cellphone and two additional files on a laptop, including material involving toddlers. Sprinkle, who had worked in Virginia Democratic politics and served on the Metro Richmond Young Democrats’ executive board, was convicted after a three-day trial. The case was prosecuted under the Justice Department’s Project Safe Childhood initiative.
