Fortescue Sacks Executive After Harassment Probe
Fortescue Metals Group has dismissed an unnamed senior executive after an independent MinterEllison investigation found conduct that breached the company’s policies and values. The inquiry followed allegations by a worker that the executive sexually and psychologically abused her, including an accusation that he forcibly entered her home; Fortescue said it would support those involved in the investigation. The dismissal comes amid broader scrutiny of workplace safety at the miner, including a class action by female employees alleging sexual violence and harassment at its Pilbara sites, and a prior agreement with WorkSafe WA to address inappropriate workplace behavior.
