Four Films Rank Among Greatest Thrillers
Several acclaimed crime and political thrillers have earned recognition on major all-time lists. David Fincher’s Zodiac, starring Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal and Mark Ruffalo, is praised for its atmospheric depiction of the Zodiac Killer investigation and was included in Time Out’s updated list of the 100 best thrillers. Fincher’s Se7en, led by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman, ranks sixth on StudioBinder’s list and remains celebrated for its methodical tension and murders inspired by the seven deadly sins. Robert Redford’s Three Days of the Condor, a paranoid political thriller about a CIA analyst whose colleagues are killed, ranks among the genre’s classics according to Entertainment Weekly and the American Film Institute. Harrison Ford’s The Fugitive, in which a wrongly accused surgeon pursues his wife’s real killer, ranks 14th on Time Out’s list and continues to receive strong critical and audience acclaim.
