The Decatur Fire Department responded to two house fires overnight on Oct. 7-8, 2026, at homes on West Grand Avenue and East Main Street. Both fires involved heavy flames and smoke and required extensive firefighting operations; the first fire spread through a garage roof and threatened the second floor, while crews called in an additional engine to help fight the second.
