Four-State Tunnel to Towers 5Ks Honor 9/11 Heroes

Communities are holding Tunnel to Towers runs and walks to honor the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks and firefighter Stephen Siller, who died after running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to help at the World Trade Center. Events in Hernando, Raleigh, Baton Rouge and Bridgeport also raise support for first responders, veterans and their families. The foundation provides mortgage-free homes to families of fallen first responders and Gold Star families, custom homes for severely injured service members, and other assistance, including scholarships for surviving children. Organizers say the events turn remembrance into practical support for people who serve their communities and country.
