France suspends faulty condom sales, affecting 7 million
France has suspended sales and imports for one year of 15 condom types made using a faulty manufacturing process, affecting about seven million condoms intended for the European Union. Investigators found that defects could cause uneven latex thickness, increasing the risk of condoms tearing or developing holes and potentially leading to sexually transmitted infections or unintended pregnancies. Eight users have reported breakages linked to batches under investigation. The recall expands on earlier French actions that withdrew about 260,000 condoms, and authorities advise people who used affected products to seek STI and pregnancy testing as appropriate.
